This month, members of Rhodes Park School’s Child Rights Club visited the world’s largest humanitarian organisation, the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

Led by their club patron, Ms Mwansa Mvula, the five club members arrived in New York on Saturday 2nd September and visited the UN buildings on 5th September 2017.  They were delighted to have been inside the General Assembly Hall ahead of the meetings that commence in a few weeks. The club members saw for themselves where over 300 resolutions impacting over 6 billion people around the world are made each year.

This tour was able to provide the members of the Child Rights Club a unique opportunity to grasp the history of child rights and to comprehend the day-to-day operations of the United Nations in protecting child rights and human rights in general.

Whilst in New York, the group also visited several of the Big Apple’s major attractions and landmarks, including Central Park, Bronx Zoo and Times Square.
